BRYNAN. [in a low railed enclosure with Brennan stones]. Here lyeth ye body of John Brynan who departed this life ye 9th of Decembr. 1729 aged 70 years.

BRYNAN/BRENNAN. [Inscribed on both sides. Top is now missing]. (Here lyeth t)he body (of) Henry Brynan who departed this life 3d July 1753 aged 53 years. Also his wife Sarah Brynan who departed this life April 12th 1786 aged 77 years. Also Jenny Neiper, wife to William Brennan, who departed this life 1st November 1818 aged 68 years. Likewise the aforesaid Wm. Brennan who died 28th January 1837 aged 88 years. Also Thos. Hill Brennan Kain who died 23rd February 1837 aged 7 months. And of Sarah Brennan Kain, sister of the above Thomas, who died 28th July 1842 aged 19 months.

[Reverse side]. (Turned by) William Brennan Cain (in memory of his children William Brennan Cain) Jur. who died 4th Decr. 1858 aged 24 years. Thomas Hill Brennan Cain died 23rd. Febry 1837 aged 7 months and Sarah Brennan Cain died 28th July 1842 aged 19 months. Also their mother Mary Hill B. Cain died 8th October 1864 aged 66 years. Also the above William B. Cain, their father who died 8th April 1867 aged 72 years.

BRENNAN/BRANNAN. [Behind the next stone]. Here lieth the body of Alexr. Brennan who departed this life 10th March 1787 aged 52 years. Also his wife Abigail WILSON who deceased 10th January 1807 aged 69 years. Likewise their son Joseph Brennan who died 24th May 1824 aged 64 years. Also two of his brothers Jas. and Wm. And of their sister Sarah Brannan who died 7th June 1847 aged 82 years. Likewise Thomas Brannan who died 18th August 1851 aged 78 years.

BRENNAN. Erected by John Brennan to the memory of his son, William Hill Brennan, who departed this life 4th June 1840 aged 1 year. Also to the above John Brennan who departed this life 7th Decr. 1858 aged 59 years. Also his wife Esther Brennan who departed this life 16th October 1874 aged 72 years. His son Henry died 1st June 1908 aged 77 years.

BRANIN. [beside a modern Brannan stone] Here lieth the body of Henry Branin who departed this life May 9, 1804 aged (7)57 years.

BRYNAN/BRYNNAN/BRENAN. [Arms on the back of the stone:- Two swords in saltire. Above is a helmet and the initials H.B.]. Here lyeth the body of Robert Brynan who departed this life April 3d 1802 aged 73 years. Also Margaret Brynnan his wife who departed this life the 16th Octobr. 1807 aged 78 years. Also his son Henry Brenan who departed this life 17th Feby. 1845 aged 88 years. And of John Brenan, his son, who departed this life in Feby. 1837 aged 78 years. Also Henery Brenan died the 3d of June 1847 aged 54 years. Also Robert Brenan died the 21st of September 1851 aged 87 years.

BRENNAN. [White limestone]. Erected by Elizabeth Esler in memory of her father Alexander Brennan who died 11th February 1848 aged 68 years. Of her mother Jane Brennan who died 19th March 1870 aged 67 years. of her brother Alexander who died 11th Feby. 1852 aged 26 years. Of her sister Hannah who died 3rd Dec. 1854 aged 24 years. Of her sister Margaret Getty who died 18th March 1863 aged 22 years. And of her brother William who died 4th June 1874 aged 32 years.

BRENNAN. In memoriam. Erected by Mary Brennan in affectionate rememberance of her husband James Brennan, born 1st March 1830, died 23rd Dec. 1865. Also their son James, born 1st March 1860, died 1st Dec. 1891. Also their daughter Emily Lewis, born 6th April 1864, died 2nd May 1910. The above-named Mary Brennan, born 7th June 1830, died 10th Feb. 1914. Also of Alexander Brennan of Ardrahan, died October 1944 in his 87th year. And his wife Edith Sara, born in Capetown 1870, died 12th March 1957 in her 87th year.

BRENNAN. Erected by Robert Brennan to the memory of his wife Jenny Napier Brennan who died 5th September 1888 aged 58 years. Also their son Henry who died in infancy. The above-named Robert Brennan died 3rd Dec. 1894 aged 66 years. Also their daughter Essie who died 29th Jan. 1895 aged 37 years, and their son Henry Brennan who died 3rd Feby. 1933 aged 63 years. Elizabeth Wilson, wife of the above Henry Brennan, died 2nd July 1948 aged 67 years.

HAMILTON. [In a low-railed enclosure]. Erected by William Hamilton in memory of his wife Abigaill Brennan who departed this life 8th Januy.1838 aged 34 years. Also the above-named William Hamilton who departed this life in Glasgow on the 15th March 1878 aged 73 years.

HILL. [Sandstone on its side leaning against the inside wall of the church] Here lie the remains of Willm. Brennan Hill, son of Thomas Hill Junr. who died on the 14th day of June 1845 aged 4 years. Also Jenny Napier B. Hill, sister to the above named William, who died 17th June 1857 aged 21 years. Also her sister Mary Hill who died 5th Febr. 1859 aged 6 years. Also Jenny Napier B. Hill, mother to the above named William, who died 26th June 1883 aged 77 years. The above named Thomas Hill died 5th Jany.1886 aged 80 years. And his daughter-in-law Lizzie Hill who died 20th Nov.1890 aged 47 years.

KAIN. [With arms:- a dexter hand fesswise, in chief three mullets. Crest:- a garb. Motto:- Amo probus]. Here lyeth the body of George Kain who departed this life 25th Mar. 1785 aged 62 years. Also his grand daughr. Jenny Neiper Kain who died 19th Augt. 1804. Also Sarah Brennan, wife to John Kain, who died 12th of April 1837 aged 73 years. Also the above John Kain who died 4th March 1844 AE 79 years.

McELWEN. [Cracked stone leaning against inside wall of church. With arms:- a cross chequy, in the first quarter, three lozenges in pale; second, a lion rampant; third, an estoile; fourth, a fleur de lis. Crest:- a hand holding a sword]. Here lyeth ye body of Isabel McElwen who died January ye 22 1746 aged 43 years.

[Reverse side]. Here lieth the body of James Hill who deceased 13th February 1816 aged 88 years. Also his wife Jane Hill otherwise Brennan who deceased 11th January 1818 aged 83 years. These lines by Samuel Broadford in memory of his aunt Serra Hill who died on the 24th of April 1850 aged 84 years.

REID. Erected by Wm. Brennan in memory of his sister Elizabeth Brennan otherwise Reid who died June 29th 1828 aged (7)5 years. Also her husband Thos. Reid who died October 29th 1832 aged 93 years.

ROSS. Erected by Jane Nepier Brennan in memory of her husband John Ross, who was drowned on his voyage to Glasgow on the 20th Augt. 1836 aged 25 years. Also their daughter Elizabeth who departed this life on 25th March 1838 aged 2 years. Also her father Robert Brennan who departed this life 10th April 1847 aged 77 years. And of her son James McAuley who died 23rd March 1849 aged 7 months. Also her husband Thomas McAuley who was drowned on his passage from Mary Port on the 17th October 1866 aged 46 years.

Ballypriormore Graveyard, Islandmagee, County Antrim:

ESLER. [White marble headstone]. Erected by Patrick Esler in memory of his mother Margaret Esler who died 22nd Oct. 1859 aged 59 years. Also his father William Esler who died 11th May 1890 aged 90 years. And their four children who died in infancy. Also his uncle David Esler who died 20th May 1873 aged 72 years. Also his wife Elizabeth Brennan who died 2nd November 1905 aged 68 years. And of the above named Patrick Esler who died 9th November 1905 aged 68 years.

HILL. Erected by John Hill in memory of his children:- Samuel who died 11th Sep. 1889 aged 1 year and 5 months; Robert who died 13th Sep. 1889 aged 2 years and 6 months; Jenny Napier Brennan who died 23rd April 1909 aged 19 years. Also his son David who was drowned in Regent Canal, London on 27th April 1925 and interred in Bow Cemetary, London on 10th May 1925 aged 27 years. The above named John Hill died 9th June 1938 aged 82 years. And his wife Sarah Nelson Hill who died 25th June 1950 aged 89 years.

Church of Ireland Graveyard, Islandmagee, County Antrim:

BRENNAN. [In a high-railed enclosure with Henry Brennan's of 1853]. Erected to the memory of Henry Brennan who departed this life 22nd August 1829 aged 66 years. Also his wife Margaret who departed this life 25th of Feb. 1838 aged 80 years. Also Elizabeth Wilson who died 2nd July 1870 aged 70 years.

BRENNAN. Erected by Sarah Brennan in memory of her husband Robert Brennan lost on Tory-island with the schooner ``Isabella'' on the 18th Octr. 1851 aged 53 years. Also his son Robert killed on board the schooner ``Ocean Child'' 28th April 1849 aged 20 years. Also his son William died on the 2nd April 1856 aged 28 years. Also his son Joseph who was lost at sea 4th Decr. 1859 aged 26 years. Also the above named Sarah Brennan who died on the 8th Decr. 1874 aged 74 years. Interred at the Cemetary, Maryport.

BRENNAN. [With Henry Brennan's of 1829]. Erected by Henry Brennan in memory of his only son William who departed this life on the 24th March 1853 aged 21 years.
``A youth reposes underneath this sod, a youth to memory dear, and dear to God.''
Also his beloved wife Jane who departed this life 23rd Octr. 1886 aged 86 years. Blessed are they who die in the lord. Also the above Henry Brennan who died 15th Sept. 1888 aged 78 years.

BRENNAN. Erected by William Kane Brennan in loving memory of his children Henry who died 22nd Sept. 1884 aged 1 1/2 years. Jane who was drowned 3rd May 1897 aged 3 1/2 years. William Kane who died 20th May 1907 aged 26 years. Also his son Robert who was drowned 12th Nov. 1907 aged 22 years. Also his son John who died 18th Feby.1913 aged 25 years. And his son Henry who died 14th July 1913 aged 16 years. Also the above named William Kane Brennan who died 8th June 1920 aged 65 years. And his wife Jane who died 11th Jan. 1936 aged 79 years. Also his son Hill born 4th June 1899.
``Worthy of everlasting remembrance''. ``Yes; we miss them, and how sadly, None but aching hearts can tell, They are gone from earth to heaven, Jesus, doeth all things well.''
Also John McGowan, loved husband of Essie, died 20th August 1960. The above Essie died 4th May 1972.

NIBLOCK. [Black granite]. Erected by Fred W. Niblock in loving memory of his daughter Jane Brennan died 24th May 1900 aged 9 years. His son Frederick William died 8th Octr. 1901 aged 2 1/2 years. The above named Frederick W. Niblock died 24th May 1926 aged 67 years. Also his wife Jane Niblock died 5th May 1934 aged 73 years. Also his son in law David Barbour who was lost at sea 3rd Feb. 1943. And Margaret Robina, wife of above David Barbour, died 23rd Jan. 1946. Also his son Henry Brennan Niblock died 27th Jan. 1970 aged 76 years. And his daughter Mary Elizabeth Niblock died 9th Jan. 1972 aged 75 years.

Templecorran graveyard, Ballycarry, County Antrim:

BRENAN. Erected to the memory of Robert Brenan who departed this life very suddenly August 24th 1803 in the 24th year of his age. Sincerely regreted by all who knew him. Also his father Brenan who died Janry. 1809 aged 72 years. During a long and laborious life he supported the character of a tender husband, affectionate father and an honest man.

TORBET. Here lyeth the body of Sarah Brynan wife of Robt Torbet who departed this life Novr. the 11th 1757 aged 64 years. Also Robt. Torbet hir husband who depd. this life Agut. the 16th 1765 aged 77.

TORBET. [Inscriptions on both sides of stone]. Here lyeth the body of Sarah Boyes, wife to Robert Torbet, who departed this life October the 22nd 1763 aged 25 years. Also hir son, Robert. This stone was erected to the memory of Mary Brenan who departed this life 11th Dec. 1809 aged 24 years.

Also note there are gravestone inscriptions for the Wilson family in the Kilroot graveyard on the road from Carrickfergus to Whitehead. These mention two Wilson boys whose names were Henry Brennan.

Shankill graveyard, Belfast:

BRENNAN. Erected by Joseph Brennan, a native of Islandmagee, in memory of his wife Margaret Brennan who departed this life March 8, 1858 aged 49 years. Also their son Henry who died at sea Jan. 12, 1857 aged 21 years. Also his son Joseph Brennan who died at sea Dec.1884 in his 44th year; interred at Tynemouth Cemetary, North Shields. Also his son Robert Brennan who died at Aspinall, April 9, 1886 in his 47th year. Also his daughter Mary Brennan who died March 1, 18(90) aged 54 years. Also the above Joseph Brennan who died March 26, 18(90) aged 84 years.

BRENNAN. The burying ground of Isaac Brennan. In loving memory of his nephew Matthew Howell who departed this life Dec. 18, 1919 aged 1 year and 7 months. Also my dear mother Margrate Ann Martin who departed this life Aug. 4, 1924. Also my dear wife Mary Brennan who departed this life Feb. 26, 1929. Also the above named Isaac who departed this life Jan. 29, 1930.

GILLILAND. The family burying place of Thomas Gilliland in memory of his children. Sarah died 1837 aged 3, Jane died 1846 aged 6 months. Elizabeth died 1853 aged 11 months. Also the above named Thomas Gilliland died Nov. 10, 1855 aged 57 years. His grandchild Mary Jane Brennan died 1875 aged 4 years. Also his daughters: Jane Brennan died June 1, 1876 aged 29 and Mary McFarlane died in Puerto Rico, June 13 aged 25 years.

Balmoral Cemetery, Belfast:

BRENNAN. [white limestone] In loving memory of James Brennan died 18th Sept. 1926. Also his son John McPherson died 14 Dec., 1896.

BRENNAN. [badly worn sandstone] Erected by Capt. John Brennan to the memory of his beloved daughter Margaret who departed this life 12 (Dec) 18(58) aged 1 year and (8 months). Also my beloved wife Letitia who d. (..)th Dec 1860 aged 30 years. Also the above John Brennan who died in Demerara 21st July 1861 aged 39 years. Also Capt. John Brennan, son of the above, died 11th August 1932 aged 77 years. [Register: Brennan, Margaret aged 1 years and 8 months of 9, Ship Street buried 14 Dec. 1858. Brennan, Mrs., 30 years of Belfast buried 26 Dec. 1860.] [Letters of administration of the personal estate of John Brennan, late of Ship Street in the town of Belfast and county of Antrim, master mariner, a widower who died 21st July 1861 at Demerara were granted at Belfast 8 Nov. 1861 to Letitia Brennan of Fleet Street, Belfast aforesaid, widow, the grandmother and guardian during minority only of the minor children of said deceased. Effects under 50 pounds.]

Tullynakill Cemetery, County Down:

BRYNEN/BRAYNEN. [Lying at foot of the next stone] Here lieth the body of Michal Brynen who died June ye 18th 1760 aged 72 years. Here lieth the body of Marey Alison, wife to Michell Braynen who died Debr. the 10th 1773 aged 87 years.

STITT. Erected by E.M. and M. Stitt, 1846, in memory of Robert and Mary Brennan who died AD 1795 aged 81 and 75 years. Also their father Robert Stitt who died 1818 aged 65. Their mother Elizabeth Stitt alias Brennan who died April 5th 1846 aged 83. Also the above M. Stitt died Feb. 18th 1871 aged 77 years. Also her sister Margt. Stitt died Feb. 28th 1871 aged 70. Also the above E.M. Stitt died Oct. 8th 1889 aged 96.

Knockbreda Graveyard, County Down:

BRENNAN. [MD, XI, 148] This stone erected by Michael Brennan of Belfast to the memory of his wife, Jane Brennan, who departed this life Septr. 6th, 1823 aged 33 years. Also the above named Michael Brennan who departed this life the 26th April 1842 aged 78 years.

Knock Graveyard, County Down:

POOLE. Sacred to the memory of Jane Poole who departed this life 15th May 1813 aged 86 years. Also William Poole, her husband, who departed this life 19th Sepr. 1816 aged 91 years. Captain John Brennan died 24th October 1837 aged 57 years. Also his wife Letitia Poole who died 22nd April 1885 aged 93 years.

Jane Armstrong (Warrin)[sic], wife of David Strong Armstrong, died 6th Nov. 1857 aged 76 years. Letitia Armstrong (Brenan) [sic], wife of Hugh Warrin Armstrong, died 13th Dec. 1859 aged 45 years. Clotworthy Dobbin Armstrong, only son of Hugh Warrin Armstrong, died 25th Jan. 1873 aged 36 years. John Hollywood Armstrong, son of Clotworthy Dobbin Armstrong, died 11th Aug. 1877 aged 6 years. Mary Hollywood Armstrong (Walker) [sic], wife of Clotworthy Dobbin Armstrong, died 21st Feb. 1903 aged 61 years.

Dromore Roman Catholic Graveyard, County Down:

BRENNAN. [Badly flaked stone.] I.H.S. (Erected by....) Brennan of Dromore (in) memory of his beloved wife Mary Ann Brennan who departed this life on the 7th day of October 1870 aged 66 years.

BRENNAN. [Inscription at the base of a polished granite cross in a low stone and rail enclosure.] Erected by Peter Brennan, Dromore, in memory of his beloved wife Catherine Brennan who died February 7th 1882 aged 44 years. The above named Peter Brennan died December 11th 1892 aged 66 years. R.I.P.

BRANNAN. I.H.S. Erected by Ann Brannan to the memory of her beloved brother Charles Brannan of Gransha who departed this life on the 14th of February 1845 in the 52nd year of his age. Rest in peace. Amen.
