CHILDREN OF SAMUEL STORY AND ANNIE MARION BADGER

The children of Samuel Storey Badger and Annie Marion (Nan) Badger:

  1. Sheila Badger in 1922.
    Sheila Arabella Badger was born in 1906 in County Fermanagh and attended the Rainey Endowed School. She is included in a photograph of the school First Eleven Field Hockey Team for the year 1922-23. Sheila Arabella married Dr William Alexander Redmond at Magherafelt First Presbyterian Church on 18 September 1929. Oonagh Badger was one of the witnesses at their marriage. William was a medical doctor. He was the younger of two sons of Mitchell Brown Redmond, a banker, and had been born at Durnascallion in 1901. The Redmond family were Church of Ireland. In 1911 they were living in Rainey Street, Magherafelt. Sheila and William Redmond lived in Ballyward, Castlewellan, Co Down. William died on Apr.14, 1948, at Ballyward at the age of 47. After William Redmond's death Sheila and the children lived at "Ard Na Greina" in the townland of Aughrim just a couple of miles outside of Magherafelt. Sheila died on Dec.25, 1985, at Broughshane, Antrim, at the age of 79. The children of Sheila and William Redmond:
    1. Hilary Redmond was born in 1938 and died at the age of 3 months.
    2. Rosemary Redmond attended the Rainey Endowed School and became an occupational therapist. She married Gordon Lindsay, a lawyer, and they live in Lauth, Lincolnshire, England. They have three daughters.
    3. Aileen Redmond attended the Rainey Endowed School and appears in a photograph of the First Eleven Field Hockey Team for the year 1952-53. Aileen became a doctor specializing in cystic fibrosis. She lives in Drumbeg near Belfast.
    4. Anthony Redmond attended the Rainey Endowed School. He graduated in medecine from Queens University, Belfast, and became a GP in Broughshane, County Antrim. He married Sandra McMaster who was also a GP and they had three children, Barry, ?? and Hilary.
    5. Oonagh Alexandra Redmond attended the Rainey Endowed School. She emigrated to Australia and lives in Leichardt, New South Wales.

  2. George Dermot Storey Badger was born in Magherafelt on Jan.15, 1908, and attended the Rainey Endowed School. His name appears in the school register for 1923, his place of residence being given as Rainey Street, Magherafelt, and his father as Samuel Badger. He is included in the photograph of the senior students at the Rainey for the year 1923-24. Dermot, as he was known, became a lawyer and for many years had a legal practice on Broad Street, Magherafelt. Dermot married Frances Jean Miller on ????. When their first child, Denis, was born Dermot and Frances were living at "Braeside", Mullaghboy, Magherafelt; the house was on the left-hand-side of the Desertmartin Road on the far side of the Mullaghboy Hill as you leave Magherafelt. In the early 1940s they moved to a house in Magherafelt on the south side of Ballyronan Road just a short distance east of the junction with Fair Hill. They called the house "Mweelrae" and, though abandoned, the house was still intact in the year 2009. However, about 1944, Dermot, Frances and their three children moved to a residence on Broad Street above Dermot's legal offices. Dermot died in Magherafelt on May 19, 1978, and Frances died in Guilford, Connecticut on Dec.25, 1997. They are memorialized on the family gravestone in the graveyard of the First Prebyterian Church in Magherafelt as described above. The children of Dermot and Frances Badger:
    1. Alwyn Denis Badger, known as Denis, was born in Mullaghboy, Magherafelt, on Jun.10, 1934, and qualified as a dentist at Queen's University, Belfast. He married Joyce Kelly from Londonderry in 1958 and briefly had a dental practice in Portrush where they lived in a house at the White Rocks, between Portrush and Bushmills. They emigrated to Tasmania, Australia, where they owned houses in Hobart and Launceston. Denis and Joyce Badger had four children:
      1. Shirley Badger married Gregory Lane and they had two children, Aaron and Kiri Lane.
      2. Gregory Badger married Christina (from Austria) and they had a daughter Orla(sp?).
      3. Jillian Badger was married and divorced.
      4. Jeremy Badger
    2. Alison Fyffe Badger was born in Johnston House, Belfast, on Jul.20, 1937. She attended the Rainey School, Magherafelt, and then trained to become a nurse at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. There she met anaethesiologist, Max Kirwan, and they were married in the First Presbyterian Church, Magherafelt, on Nov.2, 1965. Alison emigrated with Max to Australia where they lived first in Melbourne and then moved to Perth. They were divorced in 19??. The children of Max and Alison Kirwan:
      1. Clare Frances Kirwan was born in Jesse McPherson Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, on Apr.6, 1967. She married Nicholas Macpherson. They live in Busselton, Western Australia, and have two children Emily Kate and Thomas Macpherson.
      2. Katherine Gail Kirwan was born in Subiaco, Western Australia, on Oct.24, 1968. Katherine married Peter Newbon and lives in Bunbury, Western Australia.
      3. Peter Dermot Kirwan was born in Subiaco, Western Australia, on Mar.6, 1970.
      4. Alistair John Kirwan was born in Subiaco, Western Australia, on Mar.25, 1971.
    3. Barbara Ann Badger was born in Magherafelt on Feb.27, 1941, and attended the Rainey School in Magherafelt. On Jun.27, 1963, she married Colin Christopher Johnson Angliker in the First Presbyterian Church, Magherafelt. They emigrated to Canada where they first lived in Kingston, Ontario, before moving to Montreal, Canada. They later moved to Guilford, Connecticut. Their divorce was finalized on Jul.1, 1986. On Sep.15, 2008, Barbara married her childhood friend, Christopher Brennen, on the beach in Akumal, Mexico. The children of Barbara and Colin Angliker:
      1. Susan Gail Angliker was born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, on May 13, 1964. Susan married Merle Jillson, III, and they had two children:
        1. Tristan Colin Jillson
        2. Isaac Samuel Storey Jillson
      2. Kimberley Michele Angliker was born in Montreal, Canada, on Jan.3, 1967. Kim married Gavin Shreeve (born Nov.13, 1964) in Perth, Australia, and they had two daughters:
        1. Jordan Alexandra Shreeve was born in Perth, Australia, on Jun.7, 1996.
        2. Riley Kendall Shreeve was born in Perth, Australia, on Jul.3, 1998.
      3. Nicole Lea Angliker was born in Montreal, Canada, on Mar.21, 1968. Nicki married Eric Reavely in Branford, Connecticut, and they had two daughters:
        1. Sydney Elizabeth Reavely
        2. Raigen Avery Reavely
      4. Keri Alison Angliker was born in Montreal, Canada, on May 2, 1971. Keri married John Jones in Branford, Connecticut, and they had four children:
        1. Alexandra Nicole Jones was born on May 30, 1998.
        2. Abigail Hope Jones
        3. Caleb Ethan Jones
        4. Noelle Frances Jones

  3. Oonagh Badger in 1929.
    Oonagh Adeline Badger was born in Magherafelt on Jun.27, 1915, and attended the Rainey Endowed School. She is listed in the school register for 1928, her residence being listed as Rainey Street, Magherafelt and her father as Samuel S. Badger J.P. She is included in the photograph of the senior students at the Rainey for the year 1929-30. In January 1937 Oonagh Adeline Badger sailed to New York from Belfast on the "SS Caledonia". She was visiting a friend, Edith Elizabeth Ritchie, for a few months. Edith had been born in the Magherafelt area in 1905 and emigrated to New York in 1928. She was a teacher at a private school and frequently crossed the Atlantic to visit home, particularly in the 1930s. On the passenger list Oonagh is described as having a fair complexion, fair hair and grey eyes. Oonagh married Andrew Hutchinson from Aughrim, near Magherafelt. Andrew died young and Oonagh was married for the second time to Hugh Reid.
