Appendix 2B. Badger Family of Broagh and Killyberry, County Derry

  1. John Badger was born about 1769 and is remembered as the father of Edward Badger..
    1. Edward Badger was born about 1800, son of John Badger. About 1835 he married Mary Porter and they lived at Broagh, Rocktown, County Derry. Edward died in 1858 in Broagh and was buried in Castledawson; in that year Mary Badger is listed as holding land in Broagh, Termoneeny Parish, Co.Derry. [We also note that a Henry Badger and a John Badger hold land in Ballynahone, Termoneeny Parish, and they may be brothers or other relatives of Edward.] Mary Badger died in Broagh, Co.Derry on Sep.20, 1879; in her will Mary Badger, late of Broagh, County Londonderry, widow, proven at Londonderry by the oaths of John Hamilton Junior of Broagh and John Bear of Lurganagoose both in said County, farmers, the executors, Mary made bequests to her son William Badger, her daughter Matilda, her son John, and her daughter Eliza. The children of Edward and Mary Badger:
      1. Ann Badger was born about 1830 and married John Kissack (born about 1828, the son of David Kissack) on Mar.4, 1846, in Curran Presbyterian Church. The children of Ann and John Kissack:
        1. female Kissock was born on Feb.12, 1864.
      2. Elizabeth Badger was born about 1836 in Broagh, Rocktown, Co.Derry, and was bequested in her mother's will in 1879. She married John Woods (son of Robert Woods) on Oct.14, 1853, in Maghera Presbyterian Church, Maghera, Co.Derry. She died on Sep.18, 1892, aged 56 and is buried in Curran Presbyterian Graveyard (see gravestone inscription below). The children of Eliza and John Woods:
        1. female Woods was born on Feb.6, 1864.
        2. Elizabeth Woods was born on Jul.21, 1866.
        3. Matilda Woods was born on Oct.4, 1868.
        4. Ann Jane Woods was born on May 28, 1870.
        5. Margaret Woods was born on Mar.20, 1873.
        6. Sarah Woods was born on Feb.17, 1878.
        7. Jane Woods, twin of Margaret, was born on Feb.17, 1878.
      3. John Badger was born on Dec.4, 1836, to Edward Badger and his wife Mary (Porter) and was baptized in Castledawson Presbyterian Church on Dec.18, 1836. He married Mary Jane Hood (born about 1839 in Derganagh, Co.Derry, daughter of William Hood) on Feb.8, 1860, in Magherafelt Registry Office, Co.Derry. He was bequested in his mother's will in 1879. In the 1901 Census 64-year-old Presbyterian farmer John Badger and his 63-year-old wife Mary Badger (both born in Co. Derry) are listed as living in Broagh, Rocktown, County Derry, with their children as indicated below and their neice, 8-year-old Nancy Speers. In the 1911 Census 69-year-old widowed farmer John Badger is listed as living in Broagh, Rocktown, County Derry, with his children as indicated below, his unmarried neice, 18-year-old Nancy Speers, his 28-year-old married daughter Maggie Paul and her two children, Robert and Mary Jane Paul. Mary Jane died on Apr.5, 1905, aged 66; John died on Jul.20, 1925, aged 88; they are buried in Curran Presbyterian Graveyard where their gravestone reads: Erected by John Badger, Broagh, in memory of his beloved wife Mary Jane Badger who died Apr.5, 1905, aged 66 years, and his daughter Mary Jane Badger who died Jan.4, 1905, aged 28 years. Also the above-named John Badger who died Jul.20, 1925, aged 88 years. Also their son John Badger who died Jul.24, 1937, aged 65 years and their son James Badger who died Oct.27, 1955, aged 83 years. The children of John and Mary Badger:
        1. Edward Badger was born about 1861 and was married twice. His first marriage on Mar.8, 1898, in Ballyscullion Church of Ireland was to Mary Caulfield, the daughter of Arthur Caulfield and Mary (Jones) Caulfield. It seems that the father, Arthur Caulfield, must have died prior to 1898; the mother, Mary (Jones) Caulfield, a widow of Killyberry Downing, died on Jan.4, 1898, leaving a will in which Edward Badger, "farmer and curator of the child", is listed as beneficiary. The child is presumably the daughter Mary Caulfield who was born on Dec.11, 1876, and therefore had not reached the age of 21 when the will was prepared. Thus the marriage of Edward Badger to Mary Caulfield occurred very shortly after the mother's death. Moreover, Mary (junior) died just a few days later on Mar.20, 1898. The lease on the land in Killyberry then passed to Edward. On Aug.10, 1898, Edward married Elizabeth Margaret "Lizzie" Allen, born about 1876, the daughter of Alexander and Alley (Alice?) J. Bruce. In the 1901 Census, 40-year-old farmer Edward Badger and his 26-year-old wife Lizzie are listed as residing in Killyberry Downing, Bellaghy, Co.Derry, with their daughter Minnie and a 14-year-old farm servant, Willie Porter. In the 1911 Census, 50-year-old Edward Badger and his 36-year-old wife Lizzie M. are listed as living in Killyberry, Bellaghy. On Sep.28, 1912, Edward signed the Ulster Covenant in Bellaghy Orange Hall and Lizzie M. signed in the Bellaghy Manse. Elizabeth died aged 45 on Jun.10, 1921, and Edward died on Mar.27, 1948, aged 85; they are buried in Castledawson Presbyterian Graveyard where their gravestone reads: Erected by Edward Badger in memory of his wife Elizabeth Badger died Jun.10, 1921,aged 45 years. Also his daughter Mary Jane Evans died Sep.13, 1929, aged 30 years. The above-named Edward Badger died Mar.27, 1948, aged 85 years. Also Mary Thompson (Dot) Evans died Jan.4, 1990, aged 65 years and her husband Edward Evans died Nov.10, 2003, aged 81 years. The children of Edward and Elizabeth Badger:
          1. Mary Jane Badger, known as Minnie, was born between Jul-Sep 1899. In the 1901 Census 1-year-old Minnie is listed as living with her parents in Killyberry Downing, Bellaghy. In the 1911 Census, 11-year-old Minnie J. is listed as living with her parents in Killyberry, Bellaghy. Minnie married James Evans (born about 1896, son of Henry and Sarah Ann Evans) on Jul.22, 1922, in Castledawson Presbyterian Church, Co.Derry. James Evans died on Apr.19, 1973, and Minnie on Sep.13, 1929, aged 30 (see above gravestone inscription). They had a son:
            1. Edward Evans was born about 1922. He married Mary Thompson, known as Dot. Mary died aged 65 on Jan.4, 1990; Edward died on Nov.10, 2003, aged 81 (see above gravestone inscription) and they are buried in Castledawson Presbyterian Graveyard.
          2. Alice Bruce Badger was born between Jan-Mar 1902. In the 1911 Census, 8-year-old Alice B. is listed as living with her parents in Killyberry, Bellaghy. Alice married John Evans on May 29, 1925, in Castledawson Presbyterian Church, Co.Derry. She died on Apr.8, 1992.
          3. Elizabeth Maggie Badger, known as Lucy, was born between Oct-Dec 1904. In the 1911 Census, 6-year-old Lucy M. is listed as living with her parents in Killyberry, Bellaghy. Lucy married James Evans on Dec.23, 1931, in Knockloughrim Presbyterian Church. She died on Jan.20, 1998.
        2. Elizabeth Badger was born about 1862 and married Thomas Richardson on May 15, 1883, in Maghera Presbyterian Church. Thomas died on Dec.3, 1888, and Elizabeth remarried on Jan.27, 1892, to Thomas Parks (a widower born about 1862) in Castledawson Parish Church; Maggie Kissick was a witness. Thomas died in 1894. In 1907 Elizabeth was married for a third time to Robert Weir who died in 1913. In 1923, Elizabeth was married for the fourth time to William Stafford, a widower. Elizabeth died in 1933 and she was buried with Robert Weir in Castledawson Presbyterian Churchyard. The lease on the land in Ballynocker passed from Robert Weir to Elizabeth in 1915 and from Elizabeth to William Stafford in 1925.
        3. Samuel Badger was born in 1864 and became a farmer in Slatabogey, Gulladuff. In the 1901 Census 38-year-old unmarried Presbyterian farmer Samuel Badger (born in Co.Derry) is listed as living in Slatabogey with his unmarried sister and housekeeper, Margret Badger. In the 1911 Census 49-year-old unmarried farmer Samuel Badger is listed as living in Slatabogey with his 40-year-old brother, William Badger, William's wife Maggie and William and Maggie's children as noted below. Samuel Badger of Slattabogie, Knockloughrim and Curran, Maghera, signed the Ulster Covenant in the Temperance Hall on Sep.28, 1912. Samuel died on Feb.15, 1946, aged 84 and is buried in the Curran Presbyterian Graveyard (see gravestone inscription below).
        4. Matilda Badger, known as Tillie, was born on Dec.23, 1864. She married William Speer (born in Drumlamph, Co.Derry, about 1866) on Oct.28, 1887, in Maghera Presbyterian Church. William died on Dec.14, 1924, in Drumlamph and Tillie died in 1948 in Drumlamph, Co.Derry. The children of William and Matilda Speer:
          1. Elizabeth Speer was born on Dec.10, 1888. She married John Kelso in Cabragh, Sligo, Ireland. Elizabeth died on 12 Jul 1948. Elizabeth had a son, Hugh Speer, who was born in 1912 and died on Dec.10, 1988. John and Elizabeth Kelso had five children, Eva Kelso, Alexander Kelso, James Kelso, Annie Kelso, and William Kelso.
          2. Mary Speer was born on Jun.11, 1890, and married a man named ?? Marks. They had a daughter Elizabeth Marks.
          3. John Speer was born on Nov.26, 1891, in Magherafelt, Co.Derry. In 1923, he married Mariamne Helene Connor (born on Apr.15, 1886, in Echuca, Victoria, Australia) who liked to be called Lena. John died in 1972 in Essendon, Victoria, Australia. Mariame died on Jan.11, 1980. Their children:
            1. Jean Badger Speer was born on Feb.11, 1926, in Essendon, Victoria, Australia. She married Matthew Black Sloan on Jul.21, 1951. She died on Jan.5, 1994, in Kingaroy, Queensland, Australia. Matthew and Jean had a daughter, Winifred Sloan, who married a man named York.

          4. Nancy Speer was born between May 16 and Jun.30, 1892. She married Robert Ewing on Jun.13, 1923, in Tobermore Presbyterian Church. She died on May 15, 1959. In both the 1901 Census and the 1911 Census Nancy Speer is listed as residing in Broagh with her grandparents, John and Mary Badger.
          5. Robert Speer was born between Jan. and Mar., 1894, in Co.Derry. Robert married Rubina Mary Broe and they had two children born about 1935 and 1937. Robert died on Nov.12, 1961, in Wellington, New Zealand.
          6. Matilda Speer was born on Feb.8, 1898, in Co.Derry. She married Herbert Thomas Johnston in 1927. She died in 1963 in Allans Flat, Victoria, Australia.
          7. Sarah Speer was born on Apr.6, 1898, in Drumlamph, Co.Derry. She married James Fulton and they had 4 children John, James, Samuel and Dorothy Fulton.
          8. William Speer was born on Feb.11, 1901, in Co.Derry and was married twice, first to Bella McCloud and then to Beatrice Mary Pearce with whom he had 3 children, Kelvin, Jennifer and ?? Speer. William died in 1978 in Fran, Victoria, Australia.
          9. Margaret Speer was born between Apr. and Jun., 1904, in Co.Derry. She died in New South Wales, Australia.
          10. Thomas Speer was born on Jul.18, 1906, in Drumlamph, Co.Derry. He married Vivian Victoria Garris (born on 16 Dec.16, 1910, in Malvern, Victoria, Australia) in 1934 in Chelsea, Victoria, Australia. Thomas died on May 22, 1977, in Prahran, Victoria, and Vivian died on Feb.16, 2003, in Dromana, Victoria, Australia. Thomas and Vivian had three children:
            1. Judith Elizabeth Speer was born on Nov.17, 1935, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
            2. Maxwell Thomas Speer was born on Sep.13, 1937, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
            3. Rosemary Doris Speer
          11. Annie Speer was born between Oct. and Dec., 1908, and married Thomas McKelvey (or Kelso). They had a daughter Sadie McKelvey.
          12. Joseph Speer was born between Jan. and Mar., 1912, in Co.Derry. He married Mary Jane Cochrane and they had a son, Robert Speer. Joseph died on Jul.31, 1974.
        5. William Badger was born on Mar.25, 1867, in Broagh, Rocktown, Co.Derry. He married Jane Kane (born on Dec.11, 1869, in Grange, Co.Derry, daughter of William John Kane and Elizabeth Porter) on Aug.22, 1900, in Moneymore First Presbyterian Church. He is listed in the 1901 Census as a 30-year-old married Presbyterian labourer, living at Broagh, Rocktown, County Derry, with his parents. Unexpectedly his wife, Jane Badger, is listed in the 1901 Census as a married 30-year-old residing in Grange, Desertmartin, with her parents William John and Elizabeth Kane and her daughter, Mary Ann. Jane died in 1907, probably in childbirth, and William was married for the second time to Margaret Jane "Maggie" Paul in 1910 in Curragh, Co.Derry. In the 1911 Census 40-year-old married farmer's son William Badger is listed as living in Slatabogey with his 49-year-old brother Samuel, his 40-year-old wife, Maggie, and four of William's children by his first wife. William died in Slaghtybogy, Gulladuff. The children of William Badger:
          1. Mary Anne Badger, daughter of William and Jane Badger, was born about 1900 in Broagh. In the 1901 Census she is listed as residing in Grange, Desertmartin, with her grandparents, William John and Elizabeth Kane. In the 1911 Census she is listed as an 11-year-old schoolgirl living with her father and stepmother in Slaghtybogy. She married John Clarke on Jan.14, 1928, in Civil Registrar Office, Magherafelt, Co.Derry. Mary Anne died on Jun.30, 1954, and John died on Apr.8, 1955, in Beagh, Co.Derry. John Clarke and Mary Anne Badger had children:
            1. Eleanor Dorothy Badger was born on Feb.15, 1925.
            2. Robert Clarke was born on Mar.24, 1928, in Australia. He died on May 4, 1935, in Co.Derry.
            3. Agnes Ada Clarke

            6. George Clarke was born on May 14, 1945, and died on Aug.13, 1950.
          2. John Badger, son of William and Jane Badger, was born about 1902 and is listed in the 1911 Census as an 10-year-old schoolboy living with his father and stepmother in Slaghtybogy.
          3. Samuel Badger, son of William and Jane Badger, was born in 1903 and is listed in the 1911 Census as an 8-year-old schoolboy living with his father and stepmother in Slaghtybogy. He died in Slaghtybogy, Gulladuff.
          4. Elizabeth Jane Badger, daughter of William and Jane Badger, was born on Jan.6, 1905, in Slaghtybogy and is listed in the 1911 Census as a 6-year-old schoolgirl living with her father and stepmother in Slaghtybogy. She married William Ross (born Oct.5, 1894, in Corragole, Derrylin, Co.Fermanagh, son of John James Ross and Isabella Balfour) on Aug.8, 1928, in Tobermore Presbyterian Church, Co.Derry. William died on 16 Jun.16, 1959, in Belfast and Elizabeth died on Mar.18, 2001, in Dungannon, Co.Tyrone. The children of William and Elizabeth Ross:
            1. Sarah Isabelle Ross married William Nedwell Donald Campbell.
            2. William James Ross was born about Jan.15, 1930, in Omagh, Co.Tyrone. He married Sadie Molloy about 1954 in St.Annes Cathedral, Dungannon, Co.Tyrone. He died on Sep.1, 1984, in Morwell, Victoria, Australia.
            3. Henry Balfour Ross was born on Nov.17, 1931, in Omagh, Co.Tyrone. He married Dorothy Weir about 1954 in St. Annes Cathedral, Dungannon, Co.Tyrone. He died on Jul.17, 1958, in Forkhill, Co.Armagh.
            4. John Malcolm Ross was born on Oct.31, 1933, in Omagh, Co.Tyrone. He married Margaret Joyce McClay in 1958 in Portadown, Co.Armagh. He died on May 10, 1974, in Finaghy, Belfast.
            5. Derek Ross was born on Apr.23, 1936, in Aughnacloy, Co.Tyrone. He married Deirdre McCooke on Aug.6, 1958, in Lisburn, Co.Antrim. He died on Oct.24, 2003, in Nuneaton, England.
            6. Elizabeth Jane Ross married Frank Edward Beamish.

          5. male Badger, son of William and Jane Badger, was born and died in 1907.
          6. William Badger, son of William and Margaret Badger, was born about 1911. He died on Jul.2, 1997.
          7. Agnes Badger, daughter of William and Margaret Badger, was born about 1914 in Slaghtybogy, Gulladuff. She died on Jun.17, 2001.
        6. John Badger was born on Nov.28, 1871, and is listed in the 1901 Census as a 28-year-old unmarried Presbyterian labourer living with his parents at Broagh, Rocktown, County Derry. In the 1911 Census 38-year-old unmarried farmer John Badger is listed as living with his father at Broagh, Rocktown, Co.Derry. John Badger of Broagh, Knockloughrim, Co.Derry, farmer, died aged 65 on Jul.24, 1937, in Broagh, Rocktown, and is buried in Curran Presbyterian Graveyard (see gravestone inscription above). His will (effects £1674 15s.) was probated in Belfast on Sep.23, 1937, to James Badger, farmer (probably his younger brother).
        7. James Badger was born on Jun.12, 1873, and is listed in the 1901 Census as a 26-year-old unmarried Presbyterian labourer living with his parents at Broagh, Rocktown, Co.Derry. In the 1911 Census 36-year-old unmarried farmer James Badger is listed as living with his father at Broagh, Rocktown, County Derry. James Badger of Broagh, Knockloughrim and Curran, signed the Ulster Covenant in the Temperance Hall on Sep.28, 1912. James died aged 83 on Oct.27, 1955, and is buried in Curran Presbyterian Graveyard (see gravestone inscription above).
        8. Mary Jane Badger was born on Jan.10, 1875, in Broagh, Rocktown, Co.Derry, and is listed in the 1901 Census as a 20-year-old Presbyterian living with her parents at Broagh, Rocktown, Co.Derry. She married Robert James Porter (born about 1867, son of Robert James Porter) on Nov.30, 1903, in Moneymore First Presbyterian Church. Robert was a farmer in the townland of Tivaconavey. Mary Jane died on Jan.4, 1905, aged 28 (as a result of childbirth) and is buried in Curran Presbyterian Graveyard (see gravestone inscription above). Robert married a second time to Isabella Montgomery. Robert died on Mar.27, 1949, and Isabella on Apr.2, 1945. They are buried in Knockloughrim Presbyterian Graveyard where their gravestone reads: PORTER, Tivaconavey. In loving memory of Robert Porter died Mar.27, 1949. His wives: Isabella Montgomery, died Apr. 2, 1945, Mary Jane Badger died Jan.4, 1905. Also his brothers David, died Mar.10, 1927, John died Jul.20, 1945. Erected by his son Thomas W. Porter. The children of Robert Porter:
          1. David James Porter, the child of Robert and Mary Jane Porter, was born on Dec.29, 1904.
          2. Thomas W. Porter, the child of Robert and Isabella Porter.
        9. Annie Badger was born on Apr.28, 1877, in Broagh, Rocktown, Co.Derry. She is listed in the 1901 Census as a 19-year-old unmarried farmer's daughter living with her parents at Broagh, Rocktown, County Derry. In the 1911 Census 32-year-old unmarried housekeeper Annie Badger is listed as living with her father at Broagh, Rocktown, County Derry. She married a man called Elliott sometime later.

        10. Sarah Badger was born on Jun.4, 1880, in Broagh, Rocktown, Co.Derry, and is listed in the 1901 Census as a 18-year-old unmarried farmer's daughter living with her parents at Broagh. On May 20, 1902, Sarah Badger was married to John Alexander Mawhinney (born Sep.17, 1876, in Londonderry, son of Alexander Mawhinney and Eliza Porter) in Moneymore First Presbyterian Church. In the 1911 Census, 34-year-old Presbyterian farmer John Alexander Mawhinney (born in Co.Derry) and his 30-year-old wife, Sarah, are living in Ballynocker, Magherafelt, Londonderry, with their three children as indicated below. In 1920 when their daughter Regina was born they were living in Dunarnon, Magherafelt. Sarah died on 10 Nov.10, 1954, in The Loup, Moneymore, Co.Derry. The children of John and Sarah Mawhinney:
          1. James Mawhinney was born in 1903 in Co.Derry and is listed in the 1911 Census as an 8-year-old schoolboy living in Ballynocker, Magherafelt, with his parents. He married a woman named Emma Eileen ?? who was born in 1916 and died in 1978. James died on May 2, 1964, in The Loup, Moneymore, Co.Derry. James and Emma had four children including Derek Mawhinney who was born in 1954 and died in 1961.
          2. Mary Elizabeth Mawhinney was born in 1907 in Londonderry. She is listed in the 1911 Census as a 4-year-old living in Ballynocker, Magherafelt, with her parents. She married Bennie McLean Brown on Aug.1, 1933, in Saltersland Presbyterian Church. They had at least one child.
          3. Sarah Mawhinney was born in 1910 and is listed in the 1911 Census as a 1-year-old living in Ballynocker, Magherafelt, with her parents. She died on Sep.27, 1934, in The Loup, Moneymore, Co.Derry.
          4. Annie Mawhinney was born in 1911. She married Henry Evans on Dec.14, 1937, in Saltersland Presbyterian Church. They had two daughters, Pearl and Gladys Evans. Henry died on Jun.21, 1964, in Belfast and Annie died on Oct.26, 2007, in Belfast.
          5. Robert Mawhinney was born on Dec.1, 1915. He married Florence Elizabeth ?? who was born on Jun.15, 1928. They had a daughter, Wendy Mawhinney. Robert died on Jan.7, 1995, and Florrie died on May 1, 1996, both in The Loup, Moneymore, Co.Derry.
          6. Regina Mawhinney was born on May 24, 1920, in Maghadone, Magherafelt, and was baptized in Saltersland Presbyterian Church on Jan.18, 1921. At that time her parents were living in Dunarnon. Regina graduated from the Rainey Endowed School in Magherafelt in 1938 and won a scholarship to attend the Stranmillis Teacher Training College in Belfast. Her education was paid for by her Church so that she could return home to teach at the local school, Ballynenagh Primary, in the village called The Loup. She married Robert James McKinley (born Aug.14, 1914, in Bockets, Co.Tyrone) in 1948. They had three children James, Lorna and Fiona McKinley. Regina died on Jan.13, 2009.
          7. Margaret Jane Mawhinney, known as Daisy, was born about 1918. She married Robert James Ditty (born about 1925) about 1952. They had four children, Robert, Audrey, Harold and Hilary Ditty. Robert died on Sep.2, 1980, and Daisy died on Oct.4, 1999.
        11. Margaret Badger was born about 1883 and is listed in the 1901 Census as an unmarried housekeeper living in Slatabogie with her brother, Samuel Badger. Margaret married George Paul in the Magherafelt Registry Office on Mar.8, 1906. In the 1911 Census 28-year-old Maggie Paul (married for 5 years) and her two children are listed as living with her father at Broagh, Rocktown, County Derry. The children of George and Maggie Paul:
          1. Robert Paul, born about 1907, is listed in the 1911 Census as a 4-year-old living with his mother in Broagh, Rocktown, Co.Derry.
          2. Mary Jane Paul, known as Birdie, was born about 1907 and is listed in the 1911 Census as a 2-year-old living with her mother in Broagh, Rocktown, Co.Derry.
      4. William Badger was born about 1840 in Broagh, Rocktown, and was bequested in his mother's will in 1879. In the 1901 Census 60-year-old Presbyterian unmarried farmer William Badger and his 50-year-old housemaid sister Matilda Badger (both born in Co. Derry) are listed as living in Broagh, Rocktown, County Derry. In the 1911 Census 76-year-old Presbyterian unmarried farmer William Badger is again listed as living in Broagh, Rocktown, County Derry. He died on May 3, 1911, and is buried in Curran Presbyterian Graveyard where the gravestone inscription reads: Erected by John Badger in memory of his brother William who died May 3, 1911, aged 75 years and his sister Matilda who died May 2, 1902, aged 54 years. Sister Elizabeth Woods who died Sep.18, 1892, aged 56 years and his son Samuel who died Feb.15, 1946, aged 84 years.
      5. Mary Badger, daughter of Edward Badger and Mary Porter of Broagh, was baptized in First Magherafelt Presbyterian Church on Aug.4, 1839. Mary must have died before her mother since the latter died in 1879 and her will does not mention Mary.
      6. Matilda Badger was born about 1844 and was bequested in her mother's will in 1879. In the 1901 Census 50-year-old Presbyterian housemaid Matilda Badger is listed as living in Broagh, Rocktown, County Derry, with her brother William. She died on May 2, 1902 in Broagh and is buried in Curran Presbyterian Graveyard (see above gravestone inscription).
